Today’s ride was a 66 mile ride (our longest on this tour) from Karlstadt. It really is my favorite day of the ride… very flat over all and beautiful and unique scenery. Because of the length of the ride and due to the fact that we wanted to get to the Wine Fest in Miltenberg, we decided to leave at 8 am.

Unfortunately, because of a couple of problems, we lost two members of our team, one permanently and one just for the day. So after working through some logistical issues, the 4 remaining riders took off at 8:15 am.

The day started off foggy…. it was the foggiest I have ever seen on a Germany ride!!This photo just doesn’t do it justice! These two are a little better….

Along the way, we has some other interesting sights….I love this “flower boat”This marker shows where the 50th Parallel is In the Western Hemisphere, the 50th is in Canada!!

At about 1030, the fog lifted giving us a great view of the smallest town in Bavaria, Rothenfels. And today it was especially beautiful!!

A short distance down the road was the small town of Marktheidenfeld. We decided since it was clear now and we were hungry, we’d stop for a bite. It was a gorgeous day! Sitting along the Main River, watching the river and the traffic on it!

Leaving the lunch stop, we found more interesting things around every corner. This view is of a hillside of grape vines!! Amazing!!These two views of this monument show the border between Baden-Württemburg and Bavaria. On this tour we ride in 3 German states…. Bavaria, Baden-Württemburg and Hesse!

We continued riding about another hour until we made it to Miltenberg, a beautiful town with loads of half timbered houses. After checking in to our hotel room, we had these views to enjoy! And to close out today……Today’s route….Today’s brew of choice… Faust Hefeweizen Hell…..Narrow streets….Church on the Marktplatz…

It was a great day of riding… Tomorrow, a short day to Aschaffenburg!!
