If you are like me, just before a trip I ALWAYS have trouble sleeping.  I guess I’m afraid that I won’t hear my alarm going off.  It’s happened once before and I don’t relish the idea of that ever happening again.  So I woke up at 4 this morning and had an early Migraine…. and because of that I was getting up anyway!

I had lots to do…. Last minute emails, going over lists in my head, sending texts to folks in Florida and getting my backpack ready to go.  But I definitely needed some coffee to get started.

After about 2 hours of work, it was time to get shaved, showered and dressed.  The last thing left was to clean my desk off and get it looking good.  My messy desk is a trademark of mine so I thought I’d surprise my wife and have it looking halfway decent just in case we have company drop by.

At 9 am it was time to head to the Airport.  I had a little trepidation….. remember the picture of the suitcase on the bed from yesterday?  It was HEAVY…. The question was just HOW heavy was it?  When we got to the airport, I unloaded my bags and went to the counter.  The Agent asked for my ID and told me to put my bag on the scale.  I did and the numbers spun up to 53.3#…. She looked at me and gave me an “Oh-Oh” glance.  Before she could say anything though, I said I’m a Diamond Million Miler.  She then smiled and said “You’re good!  With Diamond you can go to 70#!”  There’s a reason I am loyal to Delta…. After years of flying I have the status which gets me upgrades and help when I need it with bookings.  Delta… that’s MY Airline!!

I got through security without problems and decided I had time for breakfast in the restaurant.  Cup of coffee, 2 eggs over easy, bacon and hash browns…. Delicious!

Once I got to the gate, boarding was a snap…. And the first leg of the flight, Atlanta, was smooth with an early arrival. Once I got here, I went to the Delta SkyClub to relax before boarding.  Remember the Delta status I was talking about…. A 3 hour layover is easier to handle in the Club.

Now it’s getting close to head down for boarding.  So I’ll end this episode of the blog and get it posted before leaving.  Tomorrow’s episode will be from the German states of Hesse and Bavaria….
