Today was a busy one! We said goodbye to one of our merry band while we prepared to press on on our ride to and through the Netherlands.

Unfortunately, because of dehydration yesterday, I was unable to ride today. Again, discretion is the better part of valor. And tonight, I’m ready ride again tomorrow.

So here is the scoop on today… the cyclists went from Bad Zurzach, Switzerland to Ottmarsheim, France while one of the SAG crew went to the airport and the other crew went to see the sights. So here goes…

The day started well after last nights rain. As the morning started to heat up, the fog did as well….

The riders hit a number of towns today…. Bad Zurzach was the start and they needed to transit the big town of Basel. And the bigger the town, the harder the transit. But everyone got where they were headed.

Enroute, they also passed a Swiss fortification. As a neutral country, Switzerland is not an aggressor nation but they will and have fiercely defended themselves. Here you see one of these small fortresses along with the sign describing it.

Passing through Basel and rolling into St Louis, they snapped a picture of this old church.

And coming into Ottmarsheim, FR, this sigh was seen, displaying a little of Alsatian culture….

The SAG team went into the Black Forest to visit the biggest Cuckoo clock in the world!

The first shows the clock works from the outside while the second shows the inside of the clock! It’s in the Guinness Book!!

On the way to the clock, we did hit a Schwarzwalder Stau (traffic jamb). These fellas were really in no hurry!!

And here is a pretty little pic from the forest region…

Tomorrow… on to Erstein and the Maginot Line Museum.
